Sales Tracker April – July 2013

As most of you probably know, I’m donating all the proceeds of the sale of my book to The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. My original goal was to make a donation once I made $100 of sales. I haven’t gotten there yet, but felt I should let anyone who is interested know of my progress. I may never get to that point, lol.  ;-)

Just so you know how I’m paid, there are two different formats available, a regular print book and a Kindle book.  The paper back sells for $9.89 on Amazon, and for each sale, I get $2.29.  The Kindle sells for $2.99, and for each sale I get around $2.04. There are some slight differences based on what country it’s sold in and whether it’s borrowed from the Kindle Lender’s library or purchased.

Unfortunately, Amazon is really terrible about reporting sales and royalties paid out. I’ve simply attached exactly what I get from them. It’s sort of hard to decipher, but once you look at it for a bit, you’ll understand. They have to list every country they sell in regardless of whether you made a sale in that country that month. So that’s why there is a bunch of seemingly useless junk here. The Create Space file is for the paper back sales.

To the best of my ability to decipher, since ‘Letting Go’ was published, I’ve sold 5 paper back and 22 Kindle editions. Total proceeds: $59.97. I’ve spent about $600 all together for various things getting the book published, but I will not be trying to recover any of that money. I consider it a personal donation of money and most especially, time.

It is a little bit discouraging, but I remind myself that I first began writing this book for only my daughter…and myself. I will certainly never have a marketing, publishing, or public relations team working for me, so I am satisfied that I followed my dream all the way to the end and accomplished my goal. If I ever make it to $100, you can bet I’ll happily pull out my check book and make another post!

Of the 8 reviews I’ve received on Amazon, 7 were 5-star. One person gave it a 3-star review, but if you look at all the other reviews that person wrote, you will notice they are all for Erotica books! Clearly, ‘Letting Go’ is not really that reader’s preferred taste, and I’m sure it was a pretty dull read for them!   :-)

And by the way, no, none of the reviews are from any of my friends, family, or people I know in real life. I’m fairly certain none of them have even read it, haha! Not even my husband has read the dang thing. Although, I’m happy to report that my daughter read it and absolutely loved it.  ;-)

If anyone is interested, you can read the first 10k words for free on the Amazon page. The only real way I have of promoting it, is word of mouth recommendations from readers. If any of you do read, please leave a review and let others know about it, thank you!
